Rockstar will not promise a 60fps mode for GTA 6
Rob Nelson says the studio is not ready to guarantee it, which is a careful answer roughly two months from launch.

Rob Nelson, head of development and co-studio head at Rockstar North, has said the studio is not yet ready to guarantee a 60fps performance mode for Grand Theft Auto 6.
Not a denial, and not a promise. Two months out, that phrasing is doing a lot of work.
What it probably means
Console games usually ship with a fidelity mode around 30fps and a performance mode targeting 60. Declining to commit this late suggests the performance mode is either not stable yet or costs more visually than Rockstar is willing to give up.
That is not surprising for a world this size. Everything the game is being sold on, the density, the reactive crowds, the weather and material detail, is exactly what makes a locked 60 expensive.

What we would actually watch for
Whether a performance mode appears at launch, arrives in a patch, or is limited to the PS5 Pro tier. Rockstar has patched performance modes into games after release before, so silence now is not the final answer.
If 60fps is the thing that decides your purchase, the honest advice is to wait for reviews rather than pre-order on hope.
