Sprinting in GTA 6 is reportedly on L3, and the button mashing is over
A small change with a real effect: no more hammering A or X to cross the street.

According to MikeShowSha, who attended an in-person presentation at Rockstar's offices, sprinting in Grand Theft Auto 6 is bound to L3, a click of the left stick, rather than repeated presses of A or X.
Why a button binding is worth an article
Because mashing to run is one of the oldest irritations in the series. Every chase, every escape, every walk that turned out to be slightly too long has been punctuated by hammering a face button.
Moving it to a stick click puts sprinting where most modern third-person games already have it, and frees the face button for something more useful in the moment.
It also lines up with what the Extended Look showed elsewhere: a control scheme reworked around holding and pressure rather than repetition.
Labelled reported rather than confirmed. It comes from one attendee's account of a private presentation, not from Rockstar, and control bindings are exactly the kind of thing that shifts before launch.
