Stockyard
The mural district. Large-scale street art under an elevated line, and the most obvious real-world lift on the map after the beach.
Stockyard is the district covered in murals. Official footage shows a street of large-scale painted walls running under an elevated line, with traffic and motorcycles moving through it.
Wynwood, barely disguised
The real-world source is Miami's Wynwood. It was a garment and warehouse district that emptied out, then filled again from around 2009 when a developer commissioned murals across a block of warehouse walls. That turned into one of the most photographed concentrations of street art in the world and, inevitably, into an entertainment district with the rents to match.
It is a specific and quite modern story: a working district that became an art district that became a nightlife district. That arc is very much the sort of thing Grand Theft Auto satirises, and it is a more interesting choice than another generic downtown.
The Stock 305 connection
Rockstar's Ultimate Edition material shows a shop called [Stock 305](/wiki/locations/stock-305), covered in graffiti, with a wall of spray cans behind the counter. 305 is Miami's area code.
A paint supplier and a mural district are obviously related, though Rockstar has not placed the shop in Stockyard or said the two are connected. We are noting the pairing because it is hard to miss, not asserting it.
The San Andreas question
Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas had a tagging mechanic with a hundred pieces to spray across Los Santos, and it remains one of the best-liked collectible systems the series has produced.
A mural district, a paint shop, and a studio that has already shown tattoos and vehicle customisation as businesses you physically visit is a suggestive combination. It is not a confirmation and nobody should write it up as one.
What is not known
Where Stockyard sits relative to the other districts, how large it is, and whether any of the mural work is interactive. Rockstar has named the district and shown the street.
