No, you won't be able to stream GTA 6 to a PC through Xbox Cloud Gaming

Xbox's Matthew Ball shut that idea down after a report suggested Microsoft had exclusive streaming rights. Here's what he actually said, and what it leaves open.

If you were hoping to play GTA 6 on your PC in November by streaming it from Xbox's cloud, that's not happening.

Earlier this month a report from The Verge got people excited that Microsoft had exclusive rights to stream the game. That would've opened the door to playing it on a laptop or a PC through Xbox Cloud Gaming, months or years before a proper PC version.

Matthew Ball, Xbox's chief strategy officer, posted on X in early October to calm things down: "While the excitement for GTAVI and XBOX is great to see, it has also led to some misreporting. We are looking forward to launching GTAVI on XBOX November 19, though the game will not be streaming exclusively or to PC."

What that does and doesn't rule out

Two things are clear. Xbox doesn't have exclusive streaming rights, and you can't stream it to a PC.

What he didn't say is whether you'll be able to stream it to an Xbox console, which is how a lot of people try games before they finish downloading. The wording leaves room for that, and some outlets read it that way, but there's no announcement. Don't count on it for launch night. Plan to preload the full download instead.

So when's the PC version?

Rockstar hasn't said. It's launching on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S only, and if Rockstar sticks to its habit, PC players are in for a wait. We've gone through what the last few games tell us in our PC release piece.
